How Do You Whitewash Furniture?

Posted on September 17, 2021

Do you have furniture in your home that needs a good cleaning? If so, you’re among many people who have questions about how you whitewash furniture. Many people are under the impression that there is some special cleaner required in order to clean furniture. The fact of the matter is that there are many products on the market designed for this very purpose. However, there are some very simple and inexpensive steps you can take to give your furniture a fresh coat of white paint. In addition, by adding just a few other items to your home decor, you can completely transform your home into a modern style that will truly make a statement.

One of the easiest ways to clean furniture pieces with a light shine is to simply use white vinegar and water. This simple solution is often referred to as a whitewash or a bleaching agent and has been used for years. White vinegar is available in a variety of forms including a paste, liquid or granular. One of the advantages of using white vinegar is that it does not contain bleach, which means that it is safe for any type of fabric.

A great alternative to white vinegar is to use white shoe polish. This type of product is available at most craft stores and as a liquid, is often placed into a spray bottle and added to water to create a paste-like substance. Once applied to the furniture surface, the polish can be scrubbed with a toothbrush and then allowed to dry. When you’re done scrubbing, you should leave the mixture on the furniture overnight and then wash it the next day using a mild detergent. Again, this is a safe way to clean your furniture and one of the most affordable ways to revitalize shabby chic style furniture.

If you have an antique or shabby chic home decor style, consider applying the same process to your wooden or upholstered pieces. Using white vinegar to whiten your wooden furniture or antique pieces will help restore these styles to their original beauty. However, you should never use bleach when attempting to clean wooden or antique furniture. If you are unsure as to whether or not the wood or antique item can safely be cleaned with bleach, you should ask the salesperson if they would recommend a safe alternative.

Whitening toothpaste is one of the easiest ways to whiten your teeth and keep them white. You simply follow the instructions on the toothpaste container, which usually involve applying the solution to a cloth and then brushing the cloth clean. Whitening toothpaste does not contain bleach and therefore is safe to use on all types of surfaces. If you have sensitive teeth, you may want to try out a natural whitening toothpaste such as those sold at your local health food store. Natural toothpastes usually contain fruit extracts and other soothing ingredients that are safe for sensitive teeth.

Lemon juice is also another inexpensive way of removing white furniture stains. Simply remove the lemon from its container and rub the lemon juice onto the stained area. Be sure to leave the lemon off of the furniture while it is drying to prevent streaking.

Finally, if you are looking for a more permanent solution, you can purchase a home whitening kit. These kits typically contain white vinegar, liquid detergent, borax, and other cleaning agents. You simply follow the directions for the product and scrub the stains away. While the white vinegar cleaning solution is effective in removing light and moderate stain colorants, it is not strong enough to remove deeply ingrained white furniture stains.

When you are deciding how do you whitewash furniture? Start with the simplest solution and work your way up to stronger chemicals. Keep these suggestions in mind as you begin your project. Hopefully your answer will be as quick and easy as possible!
